Tired of dentures that slip? Ask our Bloomfield Hills dentist if you’re a candidate for implant supported dentures.
We use dental implants to anchor an entire upper and/or lower arch of teeth. Unlike dentures that sit on top of your gums, implant supported dentures are secured by implants. Continue reading to learn more about our implant retained dentures dentist!
A dental implant is a prosthetic tooth root (typically made of titanium) we use to anchor a crown or denture. To be a candidate for dental implant surgery, you must have sufficient bone density in your jaw to hold the implant in place. You must also have a healthy immune system.
Procedure for Implant Retained Dentures
During the dental implant procedure, our dentist will place the implant in your jawbone. Over the course of several months, the tooth implant then fuses to your jawbone in a process called osseointegration. Our dental implant dentist will monitor your recovery to make sure everything goes smoothly. Once you’re completely healed, we’ll create permanent dentures designed to fit over your implants.
Benefits of Implant Supported Dentures
Many of our patients appreciate that denture implants stay in place. This means that you don’t have to worry about your dentures slipping the next time you cough, sneeze, smile, or laugh. Implant supported dentures don’t move when you make a sudden movement because they’re anchored to your jaw. Many of our patients also love that they’re able to continue eating their favorite foods with implant supported dentures.
